Amicus Briefs

As part of The Legal Forum's charitable enterprise, nonprofit organizations can receive amicus briefs to support their causes in important legal cases. Amicus briefs, or amicus curiae (literally, "friend of the court") refers to someone who is not a party to a case but intervenes to assist a court by offering information, expertise or insight that has a bearing on the issues. The decision on whether to consider an amicus brief lies within the discretion of the court.

There is no fee for the briefs but requestors are asked to start a GoFundMe page to help ongoing efforts of The Legal Forum. The requesting nonprofits should be advocates for civil rights or important educational, scientific, health or environmental issues.
